I'm crazy excited to write this blog, mainly because I l-o-v-e Phillip Lim. I love his palette, I love his versatility, I love the coexistence of masculinity and femininity and I love the little nuances and subtleties in his pieces. Beautiful! Here is the outfit I was inspired by. (to the right) I am enthralled by the purple tights, not nearly opaque, but close to it. They truly are a large focus piece in the ensemble and become the hue for which the other pieces are based. The gray-brown pleated skirt is cinched with a thin cafe belt, which ruches the rim and in turn, accentuates the waist. Love strikes me as the outfit concludes itself with the destroyed taupe v-neck and a heather gray cardigan, embellished with black sequins along the chest. I, of course, could never come close recreating this outfit, but tried by doing an updated version. My version (atop) features a blazer rather than a cardigan and a uses a statement top rather than a simple v-neck. The thin strapped blouse dangles with ruffles and is cut off by a bubble, a-line skirt, taupe yet finished by an emerald blue brow. The two looks do share the commonality of booties, strapped in an Oxford-meets-Mediterranean fashion. Next, I was inspired by a rougher albeit captivating look. Blanketed by a rolled-up navy blue blazer, a white blouse complete with a neck tie sash becomes anything but ordinary. Tiny leather shorts reinforce this statement as well as black translucent stockings. Last comes the black brogues with a new twist - gold colored rubber soles. My adaptation too features a blazer, albeit a gray one. Because it is baggy and loose-fitted, the TopShop blazer is nipped at the waist by a brown leather belt, its buckle pure gold.
Some occurances to note: tights, tiny shorts/skirts with loose fitted tops, muted palette (though not just muted, purple is prominent as well as ashy, dirty colors such as mousy browns, taupes, grays and navys)
I really enjoyed this task, and I hope you enjoy reading the blog. I do as best as I can to describe the pieces of art we call fashion. <3

Lannon Quarry & Designer Suits
'Twas ('twas? really, Glenda?) a rough weekend to fall back on, so a fun jour like today was well deserved. Bikini-clad and ready to swim, me and two of my dear friends hopped into the car and drove to Lannon Quarry, Wisconsin... The beach is nice; of the utmost quality. So needless to say, I was pretty excited. The water was clear and blue (for the most part) and the area was pretty secluded. The amount of people in this picture is no where near the amount of people there today. I'm pretty sure it was just us, an OG Italian family and two teenage lovebirds with cancer sticks in their hands. GRRRREAT~ Anyways, epic pictures were taken and hilarity ensued. It was a nice day. However, this blog is supposed to entail stories of my fashion hauls, heroes and favorites. I will somehow segway and connect the two. Uh... :l Ha ha. As I looked along the sand, there was no one truly 'fashionable'. The swim suits were lacking in style and/or originality and the cover-ups weren't any better. What must one expect at a Wisconsin beach, though? We weren't exactly in the Hamptons. :/ Here are some cute alternative cover ups from Gottex - shwanky, I must shay. :) I'm ridiculous, I know. The first is a pink tunic, to your right. It's light, and ethereal, spun with Italian silk. I love how delicate the material is, extremely airy and weightless. Tres chic with gold sandals and oversize Chanel sunglasses, oui? Yaaah, bish. The next is swirly, with ombre type patterns of blues, turquoises, whites and navies. Is that a word? Can you make navy plural? Ha, I do not know. Anyway, it's beautiful. :) Brushing the ankles and tieing just below the chest, it is again lightweight and goddess-like. Cosabella has wonderful swim suits also. I l-o-v-e them. Wow, I'm super retarded in this blog...I sound like an infomercial salesman. That's neither here nor there though. Ahh, as I was saying, one swim suit is a faux leopard print (obv.) bandeau top bikini. The top ties at the neck in halter fashion while the bottom is a miniature version of the boy short. Below is the bikini:
For lack of better words, I love it. & I can completely see myself wearing it. The price tag, however, is what really makes me happy. For a designer that is respected, one would expect this suit to be a couple hundred dollars. Nope! Only $106.00. But hold your horses, ladies and gentlemen, because the bandeau bathing suit is on sale - for nearly half the price. I can't believe you'd only pay $52.90. SO AMAZING. For more information on this suit, click this link to Saks. For information on the rest of the clothes, just check out saksfifthavenue.com

Polyvore & Barneys New York.
We've all heard of Saks Fifth Avenue, am I right? It's the department store of fashion heaven, notorious in movies, tabloids and even songs. However, I have a new favorite department store. Saks, I'm sorry to say that I'm kicking you to the curb. I'm now in love with Barneys New York. I'd never ventured onto their website before and I'm sorry forthis very fact. If you love clothes and you've got a bigger budget, check out their website: www.barneys.com It's divine, trust. :) Because I'm a high school student with no job, however, I find it hard to afford any of their apparel. No worries, though. Window shopping satisfies my hunger for fashion momentarily. To the left is a look I created on Polyvore using items from Barneys & TopShop, another one of my favorite stores. How cute, oh my goodness. I adore the coexistence of masculinity and femininity in this piece. It's harsh and scruffy, very indicative of a man's wardrobe, yet delicate, marked by the thin, diamond studded bangles, the adorable purse and the golden cross earrings. Ironically enough, I think the booties add an equal mix of both effeminate traces and masculine ones as well. Oh, I cannot wait for the day to come that I am an adult. Sometimes I feel as if high school is so trivial, as if the 'problems' people complain about are trivial, and that I am miles ahead experience-wise and when it comes to maturity. It sounds a touch hubris and conceited as I'm reading it over, but it's the truth. I'm ready for college, I'm ready to work, I'm ready to inspire and to live. Dumb boy drama, friend drama, gossiping and ignorance excluded. So, I don't mean to dwell... will blog later. Below is the information on where to buy the pieces of clothes and accessories from my Polyvore.
Au revoir pour maintenant,
Glenda
